2nd International Symmetria Meeting, Athens, November 2008
The 2nd International Symmetria Meeting, entitled Advances in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Anti-Aging: Refining Old Techniques, Defining New Strategies brought together an international faculty of distinguished plastic and aesthetic surgeons from around the world. We are proud to have received such a positive response from our international speakers. It is indeed the first time that this scientific group met together in Athens and addressed the audience of the 2nd International Symmetria Meeting.
Delegates from 28 countries joined the distinguished members of the local and international faculty in what has been a very successful symposium.

Quotes and testimonies from 2nd International Symmetria Meeting participants
Foad Nahai, MD, ISAPS President
“Recognized authorities on aesthetic surgery were assembled for the 2nd Symmetria Symposium in Athens. The scientific standard was the highest. The exchange of up-to-date surgical techniques and ideas was most informative”
Tom Biggs, MD, Editor-in-Chief, Aesthetic Surgery Journal
“The substance of the foundation of Western Culture was the Greeks pursuit of excellence. Symmetria is carrying on that tradition and it's a joy to be part of it. Excellence and the teaching of it is its own reward"
Malcolm Paul, MD, Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery, University of California, Irvine
“This conference was extraordinary in the organization of the material to be presented, the diversity of the faculty and the timeliness of the presentations. Material that has been known was presented and new concepts were also presented. Presenting the history gave a perspective of where we have been and guides us as to where to go. Within a few days, much material was covered and the meeting facility, meeting staff, audiovisual capabilities, and hospitality were superb”
Per Heden, Associate Professor in Plastic Surgery, MD, PhD, Chairman Akademikliniken
"The Symmetria meeting is an international meeting of high scientific standards and values. The organisation in Athens is outstanding when it comes to social activities and genorousity for participants. I sincerely hope that this meeting will continue repetedly for a long time into the future"
"Dr. Metaxotos and the Symmetria team organized a world class conference in aesthetic surgery that includes an illustrious faculty covering key topics of interest to plastic surgeons and their staff. They brought together some of the leading innovators in acial and breast surgery, body contouring, and non-surgical therapies representing Europe, North and South America, and the Middle East. It was an honor to participate in this global event."
1st International Symmetria Meeting, Athens, December 2006
Renowned international speakers from around the world and well established Greek plastic surgeons and dermatologists met at Symmetria between 1 and 2 December 2006 to discuss the latest advances in facial rejuvenation and anti-aging. Both surgical and non surgical techniques for the treatment of the face were presented. All speakers placed extreme importance on the growing impact of the non invasive treatments for facial rejuvenation and the possibilities modern scientific technology and development offers.
Professor Thomas Biggs, Editor-in-Chief of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal was the President of the 1st International Symmetria Meeting. He gave an impressive talk about his 40 years of experience in cosmetic surgery, the things he learned through the years and the lessons he would like to pass on.
Nick Percival and Per Heden, plastic surgeons of international reputation, spoke in great detail about new treatments and techniques – both surgical and non surgical. Per Heden also gave an insightful talk about the importance of incorporating a skin care unit into the plastic surgery practice, using the possibilities that cosmeceuticals range of products offer.
Wendy Lewis, international guest speaker from the US, gave a very exciting presentation about what it is that the cosmetic surgery patient wants and needs, while seeking cosmetic advice. “50 is the new 30 and 60 is the new 40”, we learn, and a successful practice is one that treats cosmetic surgery as a holistic service and not as a simple product.
